Praying
At The Heart Of Prayer
Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire,
Unuttered or expressed;
The motion of a hidden fire,
That trembles in the breast.
James Montgomery (4 November 1771 – 30 April 1854)
Words of James Montgomery, a Scot, a Christian poet and hymn writer. Prayer is fundamental to everything we do here at Kingsbury Baptist Church. We pray not because we have to, but because we want to as it is our way of communicating with God, our Heavenly Father.
Prayer is not a monologue, but a conversation with God and in some cases, we petition Him on matters that weigh heavily on our hearts.
- We pray for the direction in which God wants us to go as a church
- We pray for His intervention in the injustices we see all over the world
- We pray for his nurturing and edification
- We pray that we may truly reflect Him and build a community of like-minded praying people
In an increasingly wicked and self-indulgent world, prayer connects us to Jesus who has the key, to liberating and unlocking the real human potential.

Efficacy Of Prayer
In part testimony is the result of an embedded life in prayer to God in concert with His Holy Spirit. We love to testify and tell others about the wonderful things God has done and is doing in our lives.
The many ways in which He helps us are too numerous to mention and for that, we remain indebted and eternally grateful to Him.
So come to Kingsbury Baptist Church, we think it is fair to say, you can expect your life to change for the good, as prayer is not just what we do, it is our culture.
Joy Of Praying
The hymn writer also expressed the true longing of every Christian when he writes:
Prayer is the Christians’ vital breath,
the Christians’ native air;
their watchword at the gates of death;
they enter heaven with prayer.
James Montgomery (4 November 1771 – 30 April 1854)
We are enabled to enter heaven because we believe in The LORD and Saviour Jesus, and pray with our faith firmly placed in Him.
