Keeping Your Data Secure

Privacy Policy

Who we are

Whenever the term “we”, “us” and “our”, is used throughout this policy document, we mean Kingsbury Baptist Church.

Our website address is: https://kingsburybc.uk

Your privacy is very important to us. We have a few fundamental principles that we follow:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the ongoing operation of our website.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, we collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use our website.

We also collect potentially personally identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our blogs. We only disclose logged-in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to our website choose to interact with it in ways that require us to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who comment on our blog to provide a username and email address. For those who wish to receive our updates via email, we collect their emails. In each case, we collect such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with us. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Aggregated Statistics

We may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to our website. For instance, we may monitor the most popular pages on our website or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. We may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, we do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

We disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally identifying information only to those affiliated organisations that:

  1. need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf or to provide services available at our website, and
  2. that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

Some of the affiliated organisations may be located outside of your home country; by using our website, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. We will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.

Other than to the affiliated organisations, as described above, we disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a court order or other governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Kingsbury Baptist Church, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of our website and have supplied your email address, we may occasionally send you an email or newsletter, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with the Church.

If you send us a prayer request or feedback (for example via our web contact form or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorised access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally identifying and personally-identifying information.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who do we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights do you have over your data

If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, we may change our Privacy Policy from time to time, without warning and at our sole discretion. We encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to our Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this website after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
